September 9 - Happy Birthday, Sol LeWitt

Born on this date in Connecticut, in 1928, Sol LeWitt was an artist who often worked on a big scale. Wall drawings rather than drawings framed and hung on a wall, "structures" rather than statues. 






He created a lot of art - that's called being prolific - and he created art in lots of different media, like drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and painting. 

We're talking interesting art that makes you think. Minimalist art that seems, on the surface, to be very simple. Check out some of his very varied works:
